What would you do?

So last week our pastor posted this blog and asked for comments.  It struck a cord and I started thinking what would I really want to do if money were no issue and if i could only preach 3 sermons what would I preach.  My first response was I would be a stay at home mom.  Then I started thinking….is that all I’d do if money were no issue…if I could do anything I wanted to…what would that be.  I had no idea.  All I really knew was that I wasn’t doing what I wanted to do.  I wanted to be home so I would be free to do other things…but what.  So here is what I came up with…

If money were no option I would

  1. Quit my job
  2. Devote at least one day a week to being at school and volunteering in my children’s classroom or if not in their room at least at their school.
  3. Make sure my house was clean, errands were run, and dinner was ready before my kids get out of school and before my husband got home so that my time could be devoted solely to my family.
  4. Teach a Bible study for women one day a week and volunteer at Life Line Crisis Pregnancy Center
  5. Take my entire family for a month long mission trip every summer.
  6. I recently went to Boone and had a discussion with our old college pastor.  The Lord had given us some things to share with him and I asked him a very pointed question…I asked him if you could do everything you wanted to do right now how much money would you need to do that in a year…his response $100,000.  I’d take care of that part of his vision.
  7. Of course I would help finance Rock church’s dreams
  8. I’d spend at least an hour a day working on my writing…the ideas I believe God has given me that I have not done anything with.
  9. I would create
  10. Since Christmas if my favorite time of year…I would take my family to play Santa Claus and bring gifts to needy families in our community in the middle of the night when no one would know who brought them.
  11. I would put a $100.00 bill on the windshield of every car in the parking lot at church on Sunday morning and watch peoples reaction when they found it.
  12. I’D MAKE A SCHEDULE TO MAKE SURE THAT I STAYED ON TASK AND DIDN’T LOSE WANDER AIMLESSLY THROUGH MY DAYS ONLY TO REALIZE I HAD ACCOMPLISHED NOTHING
  • Oh, and after I had done all that I would probably get myself a car that had a working driver’s side window, a working passanger’s side door, and 4 hub caps….I’m just keeping it real.

That’s all for now…I’m still thinking.  As far as the sermons, you’ll have to just wait.
